I've loved this particular image since childhood. My Dad had (still has, I'm pretty sure) a book that stood out in our household, called Into the Unknown I think, which dealt with all manner of supernatural or paranormal things--chapters on witches, ESP, and so on. It wasn't hocus pocus occultism, but it was "open" enough to spur the imagination of a right-brained kid like myself. This painting by Blake was one of the illustrations ...

What a cool story, Zach. It makes sense that as a kid you got this. There is something about this painting . . . It has a haunting feel, but the animals give it such a sense of peace too . . .
