Alice Coltrane, right on! She's a personal favorite of mine and I don't understand why her contribution to jazz is not better acknowledged. All the albums she did with drummer Rashied Ali in the 70s are vast, dynamic masterpieces (I listen to some part of 'Monastic Trio' weekly). The things she does with musical space! On 'Monastic' she turns a blues phrase into the whole universe...
