Vicki Callahan wrote that book on Feuillade/Musidora that looked pretty fascinating.ZChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10211734319629732065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10161060.post-1157318555747400242006-09-03T17:22:00.000-04:002006-09-03T17:22:00.000-04:00In _For Ever Godard_ there is an article by Vicki ...In _For Ever Godard_ there is an article by Vicki Callahan called "Gravity and Grace": On the "Sacred" and Cinematic Vision in the Films of JLG." This article deals specifically with light in relation to Deleuzian notions of "becoming" and "intensity'; given some of your recent posts, this might very well be right up your alley. Specifically, she ties Godard's use of light with artists like Rembrandt, Kandinsky, etc. Highly recommended. I hope this helps.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10161060.post-1157318482169162442006-09-03T17:21:00.000-04:002006-09-03T17:21:00.000-04:00In _For Ever Godard_ there is an article by Vicki ...In _For Ever Godard_ there is an article by Vicki Callahan called "Gravity and Grace": On the "Sacred" and Cinematic Vision in the Films of JLG." And elsewhere someone said that at a certain point Godard stopped putting lights behind the camera, instead the light bodies forth towards the camera (all those interior shots where the exposure is set for the window). "Go towards the light, and shine it on our night...".
I'd also put in a good word for Chris Darke's book on Alphaville (Illinois U. Press), a film which is all about light.

(I'll write you soon Zach!)Andy Rectorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15870363285627741234noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10161060.post-1156884954155098352006-08-29T16:55:00.000-04:002006-08-29T16:55:00.000-04:00There is the discussion of the 35-8 camera (as in ...There is the discussion of the 35-8 camera (as in 35mm but as small as Super 8) camera that Godard had manufactured in the expanded Godard on Godard (at least in the French version). I believe the first shot of Passion was shot with the camera, though I could be wrong. There at least two articles, including an interview, on the camera.PWChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17030350846466104470noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10161060.post-1156862274671429722006-08-29T10:37:00.000-04:002006-08-29T10:37:00.000-04:00Briefly and crypticaly in France tour détour deux ...Briefly and crypticaly in France tour détour deux enfants, one segment is about Light (philosophicaly).HarryTuttlehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10721542203087536185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10161060.post-1156849968692116962006-08-29T07:12:00.000-04:002006-08-29T07:12:00.000-04:00There's nothing in For Ever Godard? There's nothing in For Ever Godard?Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
