I'll keep Ask Father and Billy Blazes Esq. in mind, though.ZChttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10211734319629732065noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10161060.post-1124273968126862702005-08-17T06:19:00.000-04:002005-08-17T06:19:00.000-04:00Well I'm a big fan of NEVERENDING STORY, but aroun...Well I'm a big fan of NEVERENDING STORY, but around the time I arrived at NYU (a community I no longer look up to, if I ever did) I realized it was a disreputable work, that is, a film whose greatness existed solely in the manufactured, emotional estimation of its supporters (i.e. me), rather than its mise-en-scene, its thematic/whatever structures, and so on. But it'd had its hooks in me at such an age that I'm no longer inclined to retrieve them (like some 60+ yr.-olds and THE WIZARD OF OZ).

--

Have you seen much in the way of Harold Lloyd? I've had trouble getting hooks into Him but my favorites so far are, rather ironically, the most Keatonesque of his movies, both directed by Hal Roach: ASK FATHER and BILLY BLAZES ESQ. I prefer the former but from the latter I remain fascinated with his cigarette-rolling gag.Jaimehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07468421420936035366noreply@blogger.com
